This weekends makings and ramblings.....

Saturday Al and I went to the sewing machine shop in High Wycombe, I was so pleased that i waited to go there and did not just buy a machine without seeing it.  I had been dallying between getting a new Toyota and a Janome, i had spent time at all different places looking at machines and it was those two that I really liked the look of.  In the end thanks to a lovely demonstration by the lady in the shop i have a brand spanking new Janome Sewist 525S.  It is lovely!

I got to work with it straight away and pieced together the quilt top I am making for my friend at work.  She is pregnant at the moment and due in May, I am making a play quilt for her, the backing is a light blue with cute little sheep and all different coloured numbers.  I will bind it in either pink or blue depending on what she has.  It is a simple disappearing nine patch sewn together randomly, I didn't want it to look too uniform as I wanted it to be fun.

I have finally decided what to do with my jelly roll.  I have split into into lights and darks and I am making a log cabin quilt all for myself!  It is very strange making something for me, usually I make things for everyone else and I love doing that, so to make something just for me is fun!  The jelly roll is really bright and not the sort of colours I would usually go for, but I decided to step outside my comfort zone and buy the bright and modern one.  I am really pleased with the way this block has come together, it is a very simple but effective one and I am looking forward to how they will fit together.

I was really pleased yesterday, I went to my Weight Watchers meeting yesterday and I have lost 3lb, after writing of December as a bad job, I am now only 2lb away from what I weighed at the end of November.  I am determined to stick to it and get myself to a size 14 by Stacey's wedding in August.  Such a busy year ahead!

It is now only 4 weeks until we go away for half term, we have rented a house for a week in Trim in Ireland.  Al visited Ireland once years ago with his brother but K and I have never been and we are really looking forward to it.  We will be able to walk and visit churches and take pictures to our hearts content.

Congrats on your weight loss. I just love the look of those two quilts. So bright and cheerful.

I love the disappearing 9-patch quilt, what a super gift this will make. I made one as a play quilt last year and it has been well used. The colours in your jelly roll are really lovely too!
Have fun with your new machine!
