I watched this program and loved it. Al and I have military wives and girlfriends in our family, in fact our lovely niece Stacey is marrying her soldier next year. The SSAFA and British Legion are both wonderful organisations who offer tremendous support and help to the families of both serving and ex members of HM Forces. This is a beautiful song and it is well worth shelling out £1.49 on Itunes for it so together we can get it to #1.

The Ultimate Guide to Penny Pinching
Did any of you see this programme last night? I did and I have to say I
was impressed. When the lady got her
shopping down from £63 to £6 who could not fail to be! However it must take an awful lot of time to
find and get all those coupons and I think normal working people would not have
the time. I also thought that when she
said that she will buy things to get free stuff even if she doesn't like it
would just be a waste. I did like the
tip about emailing companies to say how much you enjoy their product and the
fact that they will send you a coupon however I think that some companies may
now be deluged from people hoping to get a freebie. It just goes to show you though, that coupons
can be a really effective way of saving money at the tills.
The couple who got married for £1400 are now my
heroes! I think wedding costs have
spiralled out of control and are just saddling people with unnecessary debt for
what is essentially just a party! I can
see myself going down the DIY route if I get married, simply because I would
enjoy all the preparation and the thought of other people being in charge fills
me with dread (control freak, me....never)
The roadkill chap made me laugh! I am a big fan of rabbit and eat it on a
regular basis, however mine is caught by my friend with a ferret and a net, the
idea of eating something from the side of the car is just wrong! His freezer was like nothing I have seen
before, but fair play to him, each to their own.
The couple who scan prices really impressed me too, I
have used the comparison sites myself when doing a big shop, it is a brilliant
way of saving money especially if you have your shopping delivered. I would not go as far as scanning as I went
round the shop but there are some products I will only buy from Morrisons
because they are always cheaper than Tesco.
I think over all, the program showed that with a little
effort you can save a little money and with a lot of effort and time then the
savings you can make can be really significant. Just think of all the extra money that could be spent on fabric et al?

Write for Rights
It is not very often that I get all preachy on here or anywhere for that matter. I don't go on about my faith or my beliefs nor do I force my opinion on others, this is one exception. I am an active member of Amnesty International, I write letters and send emails on a monthly basis, hoping that my little missives adding to the many will make a difference. Most are not acknowledged but I have received responses from Presidential offices, Ambassadors and just today a response via my MP from Mr Ken Clark QC. See you may not think that one letter can make a difference but it most certainly does.
So here is a request, please take 2 minutes to view the video below, then Visit Amnesty's website and on the 10th December, pick up a sheet of paper and a pen and write a letter or send a card of support. It will take 10 minutes out of your life and it just might change someone else's.
Thank you
